History
La Divisa Coffee was founded seven years ago thanks to the vision of Silvana González, a veterinarian passionate about horses and the countryside. Her love for animals led her to practice her profession without focusing on the importance of financial independence. However, a robbery at her business forced a change of course.
Amid that crisis, her father Fernando, a coffee grower with more than 35 years of experience, was facing major losses on his farm. It was then that Silvana discovered a new opportunity in the world of specialty coffee.
Today, she is the first woman in Colombia certified with the Specialty Coffee Association’s Professional Coffee Diploma in roasting and cupping. She also leads the country’s first sustainable specialty-coffee factory operated 100% by women.
