Located in the northeast of the country, the department of Cesar is divided into six natural regions, each representing different ecological zones. The Cesar and Magdalena rivers are the region’s main water sources and, together with the soil and climate conditions of the Serranía del Perijá, create an ideal setting for fertile soil. This environment favors the cultivation of a smooth, sweet coffee with notes of cherry, blackberry, and panela.
History
Procafecol S.A. was created with the aim of generating value-added businesses for coffee growers and its Juan Valdez® brand, which has four lines of business: Stores, Channel.
2002: We opened the first Juan Valdez store at El Dorado International Airport.
2005: We began international expansion with the opening of the first Juan Valdez store in Washington, D.C.
2007: We established the labor-inclusion program in partnership with the Best Buddies Colombia foundation.
2008: We continued global expansion with exports to Europe and Asia and opened stores in Chile and Ecuador.
2009: We reached 147 Juan Valdez stores and achieved an international presence in more than 2,340 supermarkets.
2012: We launched our “Amigos de Juan Valdez” loyalty program.
2013: We inaugurated the first experiential store in Bogotá.
2014: We opened store number 200 in Colombia.
2019: We launched a new corporate strategy.
